Metroloogiajuhendite Ühiskomitee ülesandeks on edendada Rahvusvahelise Standardimisorganisatsiooni (ISO) 1993. a kirjastatud sõnastiku „International vocabulary of basic and general terms in metrology“ (VIM) ja juhendi „Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement“ (GUM) kasutamist, revideerida seda sõnastikku ja koostada lisajuhendeid mõõtemääramatuse juhendi laiemaks rakendamiseks.

The task of the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology is to promote the use of the "International vocabulary of basic and general terms in metrology" (VIM) and the "Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement" (GUM), published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1993, to revise the vocabulary, and to prepare supplementary guides for the broader application of the guide on measurement uncertainty.
