Vabariigi Valitsus esitab Eesti kandidaadid Euroopa Komisjoni liikme, Euroopa Liidu majandus- ja sotsiaalkomitee liikme, Euroopa Liidu regioonide komitee liikme, Euroopa Kohtu kohtuniku, Euroopa Kohtu esimese astme kohtu kohtuniku, kohtujuristide ning Euroopa Kontrollikoja liikme ametikohtadele.
Riigikontroll suhtleb iseseisvalt välisriikide kõrgemate kontrolliasutustega ja osaleb nende asutuste rahvusvaheliste organisatsioonide tegevuses. Riigikontroll teeb koostööd Euroopa Kontrollikojaga.

Kontrollikoda on ELi institutsioon, mille ülesanne on auditeerida ELi rahalisi vahendeid. Kontrollikoda asutati 1977. aastal ja sai täieõiguslikuks ELi institutsiooniks 1993. aastal. Kontrollikoda on võtnud endale kohustuseks olla tõhus organisatsioon, kes on avaliku sektori auditi ja halduse arendamisel esirinnas.

‘European Court of Auditors’ is the title in general use. However, the official title used in purely legal texts is ‘Court of Auditors of the European Union’ (before 1.12.2009: ‘Court of Auditors of the European Communities’), even if it is rarely found in texts. The members of the Court of Auditors shall be chosen from among persons who belong or have belonged in their respective countries to external audit bodies or who are especially qualified for this office.
The ECA’s role as the EU’s independent external auditor is to check that EU funds are correctly accounted for, are raised and spent in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations and have achieved value for money.
«Cour des comptes européenne» est l’appellation courante généralement utilisée; cependant, il faut savoir que l’appellation officielle dans les textes purement juridiques reste «Cour des comptes de l’Union européenne» (avant le 1.12.2009: «Cour des comptes des Communautés européennes»), bien qu’on ne rencontre presque jamais cette forme dans les textes. Säädösteksteissä esiintyvä virallinen muoto on kuitenkin Euroopan unionin tilintarkastustuomioistuin (30.11.2009 asti Euroopan yhteisöjen tilintarkastustuomioistuin), vaikka tätä muotoa ei juuri koskaan tapaa teksteissä.
