Õhusond on väike, kerge ja kompaktne õhupalliga tõstetav mõõtevahend, mis on välja töötatud atmosfääri osooni, aerosoolide ja veeauru vertikaalse jaotuse mõõtmiseks kuni umbes 30 km kuni 35 km kõrguseni. Tavapärase lennu ajal ühendatakse see sond standardse meteoroloogilise raadiosondiga, et edastada tõusu vältel maapinnale mõõtesuuruste nagu nt rõhk, temperatuur, tuule suund ja tuule kiirus, mõõdised.

Usage examples

An air sonde is small, lightweight and compact balloon borne instruments, developed for measuring the vertical distribution of atmospheric ozone, aerosols and water vapor in situ up to an altitude of about 30 km to 35 km. During normal flight operation, sonde is coupled to a standard meteorological radio-sonde for transmission of the measured quantity plus additional meteorological parameters (pressure, temperature, wind direction and wind speed) to the ground during the ascent.
