teise inimese traumaatilise kogemusega kokkupuutumisel kujunev stressireaktsioon, mille tunnused sarnanevad traumajärgse stressihäire sümptomitega
Sekundaarne traumaatiline stress on enam käsitletud kui professionaalse abistamise kontekstis tekkiv reaktsioon sellele, kui puututakse kokku oma töös traumeeritud inimeste ja nende kogemustega (vaimse tervise spetsialistid, sotsiaaltöötajad jt), sealhulgas ka füüsiliste traumadega (näiteks kirurgid, politseinikud jt).
a trauma-related stress reactions and symptoms, mimicing those of posttraumatic stress disorder, resulting from exposure to another individual’s traumatic experiences rather than from exposure directly to a traumatic event
Hea teada
Literature often uses the terms “secondary trauma,”“compassion fatigue,” and “vicarious traumatization” interchangeably. Although compassion fatigue and secondary trauma refer to similar physical, psychological, and cognitive changes and symptoms that behavioral health workers may encounter when they work specifically with clients who have histories of trauma, vicarious trauma usually refers more explicitly to specific cognitive changes, such as in worldview and sense of self (Newell & MacNeil, 2010)
Sekundaarse traumaatilise stressi tekkepõhjuseks on kokkupuude traumeeriva kogemusega seotud informatsiooniga ja soov aidata ohvrit või vähendada tema kannatusi (Figley, Beder, 2012).
STS refers to when a person experiences similar symptoms after secondary exposure to a traumatic event. As such, many types of professionals, such as doctors, service workers, and emergency workers, are vulnerable to developing this type of stress.
