(1) Surmateatis on surnud isiku, surmaaja ja -koha ning surma fakti tuvastanud tervishoiuteenuse osutaja andmeid kajastav elektrooniline dokument või meditsiinilise dokumendi osa, mis on aluseks surma automaatseks registreerimiseks rahvastikuregistris.
