(1) Aine on mis tahes keemiline element või keemiliste elementide ühend, välja arvatud radioaktiivne aine kiirgusseaduse § 6 lõike 1 tähenduses, geneetiliselt muundatud mikroorganism geneetiliselt muundatud mikroorganismide suletud keskkonnas kasutamise seaduse § 2 punkti 2 tähenduses ja geneetiliselt muundatud organism geneetiliselt muundatud organismide keskkonda viimise seaduse § 2 lõike 2 tähenduses.
