(1) Makseasutus on äriühing, kelle püsiv tegevus on makseteenuste osutamine. Makseasutus võib tegutseda üksnes aktsiaseltsina, kui ta osutab mõnda käesoleva seaduse § 3 lõike 1 punktides 1–5 nimetatud makseteenust. Makseasutus on finantseerimisasutus krediidiasutuste seaduse § 5 tähenduses.

A payment institution may operate only as a public limited company in the case it provides any of the payment services specified in clauses 1–5 of subsection 1 of § 3 of this Act.
