(1) Moratoorium on Eesti krediidiasutuse või kolmanda riigi krediidiasutuse Eestis asutatud filiaali (edaspidi käesolevas peatükis krediidiasutus) tegevuse osaline või täielik peatamine, et selgitada välja raskuste põhjused ja iseloom, kui krediidiasutus on raskustes või võib edaspidi sattuda raskustesse, eesmärgiga kaitsta hoiustajate ja muude võlausaldajate huve.

(1) A moratorium is a partial or full suspension of the activities of an Estonian credit institution or a branch of a third country credit institution founded in Estonia (hereinafter in this Chapter credit institution) in order to determine the the reasons for and nature of the difficulties if the credit institution is in difficulties or is likely to be in difficulties hereafter, in order to protect the interests of depositors and other creditors.
