(1) Sõjaväeline auaste on isikule, välja arvatud kutsealusele, asendusteenistujale ja alla 28-aastasele kaitseväekohustuseta isikule, antav haridusest ja sõjaväelisest väljaõppest sõltuv sõjaväeline nimetus. Sõjaväelise auastme nimetus võib väeliigiti erineda.
