(1) Ekspertiis käesoleva seaduse tähenduses on menetlusasjas või riiklikus ekspertiisiasutuses menetlusasjaga mitteseotud tasulise ekspertiisi asjas eksperdiks määratud isiku erialane tegevus, mille eesmärk on uurida esitatud materjali ja anda ekspertiisiülesandest lähtudes põhjendatud eksperdiarvamus.
