There may be occasions when joint logistics over the shore (JLOTS) is an option available to receive the force when disembarkation at an established port is neither adequate, practical nor available.JLOTS operations extend from the discharge of ships using floating causeways, hovercraft or other lighterage through the Onward Movement of equipment and sustainment to inland MAs and SAs.
