Näited

Kui meeter, sekund ja mool on põhiühikud, siis meeter sekundis on kiiruse koherentne tuletatud ühik (kui kiirus on määratud suurusvõrrandist v = dr/dt) ja mool kuupmeetris on ainehulga kontsentratsiooni koherentne tuletatud ühik (kui ainehulga kontsentratsioon on määratud suurusvõrrandist c = n/V). Kilomeeter tunnis ja sõlm ei ole koherentsed tuletatud ühikud. Sentimeeter sekundis on kiiruse koherentne tuletatud ühik CGS ühikute süsteemis, kuid ei ole koherentne tuletatud ühik Rahvusvahelises ühikute süsteemis SI.

Hea teada

Koherentsust saab määrata ainult antud suuruste süsteemi ja määratletud põhiühikute kogumi korral. Tuletatud ühik võib ühes suuruste süsteemis olla koherentne, teises aga mitte. Antud ühikute süsteemis on iga üksühikuga suuruse koherentseks tuletatud ühikuks arv üks, tähis 1, seejuures mõõtühiku üks nimetust ja tähist ei esitata.

If the metre, the second, and the mole are base units, the metre per second is the coherent derived unit of velocity when velocity is defined by the quantity equation v = dr/dt, and the mole per cubic metre is the coherent derived unit of amount-ofsubstance concentration when amount-of-substance concentration is defined by the quantity equation c = n/V. The kilometre per hour and the knot are not coherent derived units in such a system of quantities. The centimetre per second is the coherent derived unit of speed in a CGS system of units but is not a coherent derived unit in the SI.

A power of a base unit is the base unit raised to an exponent. Coherence can be determined only with respect to a particular system of quantities and a given set of base units. Aderived unit can be coherent with respect to one system of quantities but not to another.
