the various methods one shot or scene changes to the next. They include cuts, dissolves, fades, and wipes. (Riley, 2005, p.79) [In the screenplay the transitions are] placed in caps at right of page [not including FADE IN:], double spaced before and after, to emphasise the edit between the end of one scene and the beginning of the next. (Costello, 2004) When no transition is indicated, a cut is assumed. An entire script can actually be written without any transitions being indicated at all and the reader will assume that every transition is a cut. (Riley, 2005, p.81)
