[a plotpoint] at the end of the first acts, [during which] an incident or event occurs that shifts the conflict of the plot and subplots in a new direction and substantially raises the stakes for the protagonist, making it much more difficult to achieve the goals of the plot and subplot. (Marks, 2009) [First turning point] occurs at the end of Act I, anywhere from pages 20 to 25 or 30 and moves the action forward [from Act I] into Act II (Field, 2005, p. 26).
