People in the information society will be freer from the constraints of time and place - at work, at play, and in accessing services such as health-care, banking and education. They will expect to remain in control of their lives and businesses while on the move, or to be able to work without the need to commute - in effect, "virtual mobility". Moreover, unconstrained by geographic location, people will expect to be contactable through, and interact with, a ubiquitous, transparent information infrastructure. The ease with which this can be accomplished will become one of the prime measures of the usability of information infrastructures and will strongly influence the growth and take-up of new opportunities and services.
