In order to prevent complicated regionalisation plans resulting in actual yields appreciably in excess of the reference yields, Regulation (EC) No 1251/1999 provides for area payments to be adjusted in the following marketing year in proportion to the overshoot of the average yield resulting from the regionalisation plans.
