TENs
TENs are destined to become the arteries along which the economic lifeblood of the European Union flows. People, goods and services must be able to move around the market efficiently and at the lowest possible cost. The networks in question consist of large cross-border projects in the sectors of communications, transport and energy distribution. They include such things as motorways, railway lines, telephone networks, power lines and oil and gas pipelines. Some projects are already under way (the Channel Tunnel and the high-speed train network) and others will follow. The Community can help by carrying out feasibility studies and providing loan guarantees and interest subsidies.
