Each strap shall be gripped between the clamps of a tensile-testing machine. The clamps shall be so designed as to avoid breakage of the strap at or near the point of contact with the clamps. The speed of traverse shall be about 100 mm per minute.
The free length of the sample between the clamps of the machine at the start of the test shall be 200 more or less 40 mm.
