Traalpüük on rannikumeres paljudes maades (sh Eestis) keelatud. Läänemerest püütakse siirde-, poolsiirde- ja mageveekalu, samuti rannikumerre kudema tulnud räime, meritinti ja tuulehaugi ning siin turgutuvat angerjat.
