In line with the principles set out in Article 39 of the Treaty, assistance from the EAGGF Guidance Section shall be geared in particular to the following tasks: ... (c) helping to ensure a fair standard of living for farmers of either sex; (d) helping to develop the social fabric of rural areas, to safeguard the environment and to preserve the countryside (inter alia by securing the conservation of natural agricultural resources).
