Bacitracin zinc, a cyclic polypeptide, is also used in human medicine mainly for topical treatment of infections of the skin and mucosal surfaces. Publications show that it could possibly be used for the treatment of vancomycin resistant enterococci, which represent a clinical problem in human medicine.
