the longitudinal curve of the vessel decks in a vertical plane, the usual reference being to the ship side; in the case of a deck having camber, its centreline sheer may also be given in off sets
curvature of deck in a fore and aft direction as seen in profile
The amount of sheer forward is the difference in height between the deck line (at side) amidships and the deck line at the forward end. The amount of sheer aft is the difference in height between the deck (at side) amidships and the deck at the after end. The line of the deck at center, in the profile, is higher than the line of the deck at side, owing to the camber, or transverse curvature of the deck.
Kiilukaldega ehitatud laevade puhul on veeliin, millelt pikkust mõõdetakse, paralleelne projekteeritud veeliiniga.
The freeboard of vessels with a continuous deck, without sheer and without superstructures must be 150 mm. This value is also the basic freeboard for vessels with sheer and superstructures.
he sheer shall be measured from the deck at side to a line of reference drawn parallel to the keel through the sheer line amidships.
