Developing environmentally friendly and competitive transport systems and means of transport. The objective is to reduce the contribution of surface transport (rail, road, waterborne) to CO2 emissions and other environmentally hazardous emissions including noise, while increasing safety, comfort, quality, cost-effectiveness and energy-efficiency of vehicles and vessels. Emphasis will be given to clean urban transport and rational use of the car in the city.
