Legionellosis is a term for any disease caused by Legionella bacteria, i.e. either legionnaires’ disease (where the patient has pneumonia) or Pontiac fever, a milder infection with similar symptoms which usually last for 2 to 5 days (where the patient does not have pneumonia).
