The situation in regard to unit prices is not clear. Price indication is mandatory for pre-packaged products sold in variable quantities - for example, pre-packaged carrots in a supermarket - as well as for products sold in bulk, such as carrots, to be packed and weighed by the purchaser. As regards pre-packaged products in standard quantities laid down at Community level, the rules are complex, with the result that, for example, price indication is mandatory for coffee but not for tea.
