In addition ITU has worked out a variant ADSL solution in its Recommendation G.992.2, also known as G.Lite, that is very easy to deploy in the customer premises because it is "splitter-less" (it needs a very simple serial filter that separates voice and data and does not call for any rewiring at the customer premises).
