Member States shall take the measures necessary to ensure that every worker is entitled to a minimum daily rest period of 11 consecutive hours per 24-hour period.
As well as these ‘rights’, the Working Time Regulations provide a number of ‘entitlements’ for workers. All workers are entitled to a ‘daily rest’ period of eleven hours—twelve for young workers—in each twenty‐four hour period. A ‘weekly rest’ entitlement of twenty‐four hours in each seven days, or forty‐eight hours in each fourteen days, must be given.
