In the absence of harmonisation at a European level, the fitness for use of construction products can only be properly assessed within the context of national provisions on the design and execution of works and parts thereof.
This applies not only to construction products, but also to construction works or parts thereof, where the requirements also have an influence on the Internal Market (e. g. resistance to fire for assemblies not covered by product specifications).
