Syli (GS) replaced the Guinea franc on October 2, 1972 at a rate of 10 Guinea francs = 1 syli. 1 Guinean syli (GS) = 100 cauris. In January 1986 the Guinean syli (GS) was replaced at par by the Guinean franc (GF) and its value was depreciated by 92.5% in terms of foreign currency.
