The spheroidal virus particle is enveloped in a fatty membrane, varies in size from 30 to 100 nm (1 nm = 10−9 metre) across, and contains ribonucleic acid (RNA). Some regions of the tropics, locally rich in arboviruses, present a complicated picture of the ecological net of arthropod carrier, vertebrate host, and the environment.
