Brüsselis asuv Teadusuuringute Rakendusamet asutati 2007. aastal. Amet alustas tööd 2009. aastal, rakendades teadusuuringute ja innovatsiooni seitsmenda raamprogrammi teatavaid osi. 2013. aastal ameti volitusi laiendati ning tema hallata on ka märkimisväärne osa ELi seni suurimast teadusuuringute ja innovatsiooni raamprogrammist „Horisont 2020” (2014–2020).
