Single Burning Item (SBI) - a method of test for determining the reaction to fire behaviour of building products (excluding floorings) when exposed to the thermal attack by a single burning item (a sand-box burner supplied with propane)
The test of a Single Burning Item (SBI) in a room, as referred to in Table 1 of the Annex to Decision 94/611/EC, shall, for the purpose of classifying construction products in relation to their reaction to fire, conform to the configuration specified in the Annex to this Decision.
For certain products the classification based on (e. g.) the SBI test might not be considered to give a true reflection of the reaction to fire performance (i. e. it does not represent real fire behaviour well enough).
