aims - to serve as documentation and information centre both on the different national departments concerned with the verification and checking of measuring instruments subjected or likely to be subjected to legal regulations, and on the conception, construction and use of the aforementioned instruments; to collect legal texts on measuring instruments and their use in force in Member States, determine the general principles of legal metrology; to study means of unifying verification methods and regulations on measuring instruments; to establish model draft laws and regulations for measuring instruments and their use; to determine characteristics and standards necessary in order that measuring instruments may be recommended for use internationally
