Reeglipäraselt tekkivad jäätmed võivad pärineda ka eri käitistest, kuid tegemist on sama jäätmevooga, millel on ühised omadused (nt olmejäätmete põletamisel tekkiv koldetuhk).
Clear environmental, economic and social benefits would be derived from further restricting landfilling, starting with waste streams that are subject to separate collection, such as plastics, metals, glass, paper and bio-waste.
This Sectoral Reference Document deals with three waste streams:
— municipal solid waste (MSW): household waste and waste from other sources, such as retail, administration, education, health services, accommodation and food services, and other services and activities, which is similar in nature and composition to waste from households;
— construction and demolition waste (CDW); — healthcare waste (HCW).
Electronic data collection should be extended to other types of waste, where appropriate, in order to simplify record-keeping for businesses and administrations and improve the monitoring of waste flows in the Union.
