type face
a particular family or font of type in which the characters have distinctive features. Typefaces used in modern English bookwork include Aldine Bembo, Baskerville, Caslon, Ehrhardt, Fournier, Garamond, Gill Sans, Imprint, Perpetua, Plantin, Times Roman, Univers. Each typeface has its own special characteristics. Characters in a particular point size or weight such as bold or italics are called fonts., in optical character recognition, a character style with a given relative dimensions and line thicknesses
