(1) Puhta arengu mehhanism käesoleva seaduse tähenduses on Kyoto protokolli artiklis 12 sätestatud projektitegevus, mille raames Kyoto protokolli ratifitseerinud arenenud riik või arenenud riigi käitaja, rahastades kasvuhoonegaaside heitkoguste vähendamise projekti Kyoto protokolli ratifitseerinud arenguriigis, saab õiguse omada selle projekti elluviimise tulemusena saavutatud kasvuhoonegaaside tõendatud heitkoguse vähendamise ühikuid Kyoto protokolli lisas B märgitud kohustuse täitmiseks., defineeritakse selle seaduse ulatuses, (1) The Clean Development Mechanism for the purposes of this Act is the project activities provided for in Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol in the framework of which the developed countries which have ratified the Kyoto Protocol or an operator of a developed country shall be granted the right, upon financing of a project for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in a developed country which has ratified the Kyoto Protocol, to hold the certified greenhouse gas emission reduction units achieved as a result of the implementation of such project for the performance of the obligations specified in Annex B to the Kyoto Protocol., defined within the scope of this Act
