(2) Lasteaed on alushariduse riikliku õppekava alusel alushariduse omandamist võimaldav õppeasutus, kus turvalises, eakohases, mängulises ning arendavas õpi- ja kasvukeskkonnas toetatakse kolme- kuni seitsmeaastaste laste üldoskuste arengut ning selliste teadmiste, oskuste ja hoiakute kujunemist, mis loovad eeldused põhihariduse omandamiseks ja edukaks edasijõudmiseks igapäevaelus.

(2) A preschool is an educational institution that enables the acquisition of early childhood education on the basis of the national curriculum for early childhood education, where the development of general skills and the formation of knowledge, skills and attitudes that create the prerequisites for the acquisition of basic education and for successful advancement in everyday life are supported in a safe, age-appropriate, playful and stimulating environment for learning and developing for children aged three to seven.
