(1) Kindlustusjuhtum on kolmandale isikule kahju tekitamine juhul, kui samal ajal esinevad järgmised tingimused: 1) kahju on tekitatud sõidukiga, mille suhtes kehtib käesolevast seadusest või sõiduki põhiasukoha riigi õigusaktist tulenev kindlustuskohustus; 2) kahju on tekitatud sõiduki liikluses käitamisele iseloomuliku riski realiseerumisega ja esineb põhjuslik seos sõiduki liikumise või paiknemise ning tekitatud kahju vahel; 3) kahju on tekitatud teel või muul sõidukite tavapäraseks liikluseks kasutataval alal.

(1) An insured event means the causing of damage to a third party, provided that the following conditions exist at the time: 1) the damage has been caused by a vehicle that is subject to the insurance obligation arising from this Act or the legislation of the state where the vehicle is normally based; 2) the damage has been caused by the realisation of the risk characteristic of the operation of the vehicle in traffic and there is a causal link between the movement or location of the vehicle and the damage caused; 3) the damage has been caused on the road or in another area used for conventional vehicle traffic.
